Ye Yuan An is the eldest daughter of Assistant Minister of Finance who prefers practicing martial art than arranging flower. One day, her slave cries because his lover was accused of killing courtesan. Yuan An snuck into prison to save the girl. Unfortunately, she's caught in action by Zhao Lanzhi the constable. Yuan An asks the police to give them chance to prove the wrong accuse and he said she has 3 days to find new evidence. They sneak into the black market where Yuan An gets a mysterious slave. He's rough but posses enormous power. Since he's also good dealing with horses, she calls him Mu Le. Mu Le becomes very loyal to her. They end up working together to investigate more cases.

 

The first thing I recognize is that the actor playing Zhao Lanzhi was Jingyan's right hand in nirvana in fire. Took him some time to be the leading actor, XD. There is still a lot to improve: some expressions are numb, but he's okay. I like him. haha *biased*

Zhao Lanzhi character reminds me of Detective Dee (well, he soon promoted as the head of Da Li Si just like Dee Ren Jie). Also the guy from the detective Samoyeds for his status as an imperial relative. Zhao Lanzhi is not the type who let other do the brainwork. He has the ability to do the deductive thinking. At the same time, he is calm, polite, and formal. As he becomes interested in Ye Yuan An, his expressions turn cute. What a perfect role.

Ye Yuan An is the typical strong heroine, but very adorable. Although she's able to save herself, he often gets help from the two male leads (Zhao Lanzhi and Mu Le). She's definitely not a fragile woman even though she doesn't meet the "requirements" of a good woman. At that time (and perhaps today) a good woman is defined by her ability to do women's works: embroidery, flower arrangement, or putting make up. However, what do those skill used for greater good? Those only for performance, not really useful in a dramatic situation. Even the villain looks super sweet and perfect as a woman but hiding her martial art skill as well as evil schemes. This makes me think that the one who looks like a perfect woman is the most dangerous person.
