| Cast: Sakaguchi Kentaro | Kichise Michiko | Kitamura Kazuki
10 years ago, Saegusa Kento witnessed his classmate taken by a mysterious woman. She was found dead after the family paid ransom for her kidnapping. He came to police station to share the information, but the cops were too busy to listen to a kid.
In 2010, Saegusa Kento has become a rookie policeman. He stumbles upon an old transceiver (walkie-talkie) which is not supposed to be working, but that night it turned on. On the other side is a detective from 1990 who was assigned to crack the kidnapping. His name is Ooyama Takeshi. How can the transceiver connect to the past is the mystery, but it enables them to exchange information and let Saegusa reveal the truth beneath that case.
8 years later, Saegusa just came back from profiling education in America and assigned to Cold Case Squad. The squad is highly hated by other cops because if they succeed they're revealing lame job previous investigators did.
Taking advantage of magic transmission between Saegusa dan Ooyama, they resolve cases in the past and present.
Frankly speaking, I love the visual of this Japanese version more than the original Korean's. The casts are the pleasure to my eyes. This is a good stepping stone for Sakaken's first main lead in a drama. He still needs more experience, though. Kitamura Kazuki gives totally different vibe than the Korean cast. It must be because of his overflowing pheromones. haha. Kitamura Kazuki is adorable, while I find the Korean actor looks pitiful (sorry, I didn’t catch his name).
I like the Korean version of Kichise Michiko, she's great. I also like Kichise Michiko, but she's sexy aura, unlike the Korean actress. The character they're playing is a naive woman who's not so attractive, though.
The first episode follows Korean version religiously, but they make adjustments in the next episodes.  I find some scenes in Korean version are jumping. Some make me lost tracks. Like when the main character become Profiler without proper training. But, in the Japanese version, they fix it to more rational. They make Sakaken learn profiling technique to America and it takes 8 years for him to be Lieutenant. The cases are also packed briefer since Japanese dorama usually shorter (only 10-12 episode).
I just watched 2 episodes of this Japanese version, but if it sticks to the original story, then the main idea is about police' investigation blunders. As an institution with solid command, sometimes detectives turn into dogs only doing what the superiors' order. It's easy to misuse such power to protect those with statuses. In the end, detectives don't strive harder to solve the case. As soon as their boss says it's close, they stop digging. However, just because the investigation stops doesn't mean the bereaved family will be contented.
