Tojo University Hospital is a small affiliate hospital, barely known by the world, except for the exquisite operation skill by dr. Saeki. He named his technique as Saeki Method, which can repair mitral valve without stopping the heart. As it's a highly skilled technique, no other doctor can perform it. Well, unless we can count dr. Tokai.
Unfriendly and less enthusiastic to write a medical journal, dr. Tokai is notorious among the staffs. He works freely and careless about people's feeling. Despite his successful operations, his skill is never made known to the public.
One day, a new professor transferred from Seika University Hospital, dr. Takashina introduces a new tool which can perform Saeki Method easier. Using this tool, any surgeons can operate to have resulted as dr. Saeki's. However, the tool is not yet licensed in Japan. dr. Takashina tries to force Tojo to test the new tool.
In every job hierarchy, politics contributes to your career. Even though you have great skill, if you don't make people know it, you'll be left behind. In reality, we see people with mediocre skills but reaching top position because of their communication skills.
Tokai is the greatest example for one with ability but can't promote his skill well. He brushes up people with bad attitude, creating a negative image of his personality. But, there's one thing they call can't disagree: he's a top surgeon.
Being a notorious weird guy has an advantage, actually. You spare no time for chit-chat. You can criticize people without being restrained. People won't invite you to drink, which means less time to waste.
