Wu Xie's family is tomb thieves. However, he's not allowed to get into the business. Still, he enjoys sneaking into old tomb alone. One day, he picks an old key inWidow's Grave. Based on his grandfather's note, it belongs to Kingdom of Kunlun Qucha.
Back in a warring era, the king married mystical queen who has the ability to bestow immortality. She sieges the whole kingdom in a luxurious tomb to be preserved to 4000 years.
Wondering how much fortune they can steal, Wu Xie's third uncle starts packing. He picks his man carefully. One of them is mysterious Zhang Qiling who has amazing fighting skill.
As a pristine child, Wu Xie is not allowed to come along. But, he insists. He's such a spoiled kid.
However, the tomb raiding is much more dangerous than he ever imagines. Not only they should pay attention to ancient grave's tricks, but also the mercenaries sent by a man named Hendrix who's been looking for the secret of immortality.
Wu Xie and Zhang Qiling's characters are quite different than the series. Li Yifeng's Wu Xie is virtuous, although he's very useless. He keeps being saved by other members of the team. On the contrary, Lu Han's is childish and playful, but he has an important part in team's mission.
The lost Tomb's Zhang Qiling is the best character played by Yang Yang. He's cool, poker face and guarded. But, Jing bao's has more lines. He even manages to throw some jokes (with a stiff face) to Wu Xie. I prefer Jing bao being bullied (again), tho. Still, I can enjoy both Yang Yang and Jing Boran's action scenes.
The story is more solid than the series. It seems connected, although the movie only lasts for 123 minutes. The only thing bugging me is how easy The Third Uncle falls for Wu Xie's request to join the mission. If the family wanted to protect him from the 'evil' family business, why give up so easy? weird.
