Inoyama family is good in accounting and finance. Naoyuki, the 8th generation of this samurai family inherits his family profession and works earnestly. When Koma married to Naoyuki, she learns her husband philosophy. Though the family is poor, Naoyuki never accept bribery. As he takes over as the head of the family, he sorts the family's debt and put strict regulation to his family to prevent wasting money.
From the view of Naoyuki's son, Naokichi, this father is really stingy. Even when his grand parent passed away, the father keeps counting the event balance. It seems like he never separate from his abacus. Naoyuki also teaches his son to manage money really hard. This makes Naokichi hates his father and decides to leaves home to be soldier. However, he is, then, given task to manage army's financial department. Naokichi regains understanding and gratefulness to his father's harsh lessons.
I think this is the only movie where Nakama Yukie looks normal. She was always full of psychopathic aura with her, especially with her whisper way of speaking. hiii. Her combination with Sakai san is sweet here.
