A mysterious creature spotted in Tokyo Bay. It's so big and its body temperature boils the sea. While government officials report to Prime Minister, the gigantic creature makes its way to land. It's energized by nuclear power and can easily sweep the entire city down. PM is forced to announce a national state of emergency and calling for the mobilization of Self Defence Forces for the first time ever.
Yaguchi Rando, Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary, assembles experts from the various field to identify the creature. While they're digging blindly, Yaguchi is approached by the aide of US President's assistant Deputy Chief. She is looking for Professor Maki Goro, who should be able to help Japan solving the crisis. However, the professor is missing and international world turns haste. UN and US force Japan to let them "help" by shooting bomb to the monster. Is it really the only way to save Japan?
Frankly speaking, this is my first time watching Godzilla movie. It's a toku, right? When the Godzilla first reaches the land, it looks painful. Every time it moves, it spread blood. Makes me think that it never meant to hurt the human, it's just feeling sick. But, the movie is really short, it fails to deliver the reason why Godzilla came.
On the other side, this is actually a serious movie with a lot of lines. More meetings, less action. It can be boring if they prolong the show.
Satomi and Hasegawa-san are speaking English I can't easily understand, but they're sparkling. I love it when Satomi playing the intelligent beautiful character.
