50 years ago, Manji's sister was killed by a group of bandits. He's dying when slashing them all by himself. He asked the passing old lady, Yaobikuni to kill him, but instead, she gave him bloodworm. The creature infused inside his blood regenerates his broken tissues right away. Manji becomes immortal.
You know what sucks being unable to die is that it feels like no end. He's a great swordsman, but he just has no reason to show off his skill. Until one day, a girl named Rin hires him to avenge her father. The father was a dojo master, but he's killed by IttoRyu's Anotsu Kagehisa. Anotsu wants to unite all dojo under his command.
Of course, Manji doesn't want to get involved with it. But, Rin looks exactly like his late sister...
First thing about this movie: it must be expensive. The cast list is enough to draw people to watch. Kimura Takuya is great, I think he needs more roles like this. Erika, Chiaki, Ebizo-sama are all the reasons I watch, but even Sota is not bad. Seriously. I can't believe I'm saying this. lol.
I don't read the manga (and might never read it), but this one has a solid plot. Manji thought he was a monster, long before he turned into immortal. After being one, he just doesn't feel like a human, but Rin reminds him. Although he won't say it, he must be glad having Rin around, makes him feel the warmth of family.
