Shirooka Asa is the young mistress of money changer Kano-ya in Osaka. She's been a curious girl since she was little and often raised a lot of question. However, it's the era where women are not allowed to show intelligence. Their duties are making the house and husband.

Still, Asa is not talented in mending button. She's more interested in the business. While her husband, Shinjiro, is more interested in shamisen and fooling around, Asa slowly gains trust of her father-in-law and learns about family business. Asa also makes friend with samurai-turned-businessman Godai who just came back from America to build Osaka.

This is the story about a woman who built the first woman university. She is the one who travel 2 days to coal mining and persuades prideful miner to work. She's also the only business woman in Osaka at that moment. She opens up way for smart woman to give contribution to the world.

For me, it's not about emancipation. It's about doing what you can best. Not every woman suit the housework. Asa is obviously more talented in counting money than cleaning the house. Still, she has to do the two jobs, because she's a woman. I can't help but crying when she brings her husband clothes to stitch while attending business meeting. Woman is so amazing.

On the other hand, can man do those? Having two jobs at once? Doing domestic work while being bread winner?

I think I have to share the gif set I found yesterday:
