Maki's mom accidentally hit her boyfriend. As she's being taken to custody, Maki has to go with gloomy woman from the social service. She is handed to a scary man who takes her to a shady house with a lot other kids in there. This is an orphanage, is the place for kids who were abandoned by their parents.

Everyone believe that they won't be there forever. That perfect parents will come to pick them. However, the struggle of finding adoptive parents are harsh. Kids don't have freedom to choose their right ones. Instead, they're offered like pet.
Now I understand how this drama becomes controversy. Is this how they treat poor kids in institution? like they're some kinds of dogs? They hate the house manager and they have to behave nice to attract adults. *sob*
Love is really unexpected thing. None can guarantee that being related to blood with ensure never ending love. Take Maki as example. I cried hard when her mother said she better stay in the orphanage because she'd make lots friend. How could a parent choose boyfriend over her own flesh? It doesn't make sense to me, but love-one again-is unpredictable.

These kids are amazing! Their acting makes the adult shiver. Well, the older casts are also fantastic. I have never seen this cold Kimura Fumino.
Miura Shohei also gets unusual character. He manages to make his presence so shallow.
Ah, Shirotan only appears for few seconds in the first episode.
Mikami Hiroshi's character is the one we can hate, but also funny. XD
