Professional Single

Yuan Qian and Qin Shen are two people who might end up single forever. Yuan Qian is cute but she picks everything and makes it hard for any boys falling for her. She finds faults in everything. Qin Shen is a male god in campus, he also a great artist and hold highest rank. However, he’s so insensitive. Surprisingly, the two are attracted to each other.  This is the story about how awkward couple communicate their feelings while trying to keep themselves look cool.

The flirting and the effort to make each other realize their feeling is funny and amusing. And it’s close to our reality. Every steps Qin Shen and Yuan Qian take are real, just like what normal people do. It’s fair to say this is reflection of our campus days.

Everytime unhealthy behavior comes to screen, I keep telling myself: this is a story about sophomores. Adolescent doesn’t really think before they act. They’re impulsive, brave and spontanious. They don’t regard pride, as well, so there’ s literally nothing can hold them back.

It’s the time when having someone liking you means heaven. It also the period where friends must stay next to you to give you concrete support. Sounds awful? Only if you haven’t passed the period. It’s a free phase of your life where you’re heading to adulthood but yet you’re still a kid.

Let me talk about the acting. Deng Chao Yuan sweety obviously needs more acting lesson, but I’m so happy to see this Qing Chun You Ni’s boy on screen. Everytime he acts cool and flirty I can’t help but imagining Li Wenhan calling him “Yuan Yuan...” XD.  Song Yiren is really cute. I skipped her previous dramas but now I think I should return to them. She has cutest smile, not the bussiness smile you know fake, she’s bright sincere one.

The most interesting characters are definitely Qin Shen’s bffs and roommates: Chen Qinan and Yi Ming. They brighthen the days everytime they do stupid things or even try to mock Qin Shen (bold of them for trying ha).

Beneath the young romance, I found something serious to write here. In Asia, college is what our parents push to ensure we have better future. It’s understandable that they often force kids to enroll to famous department, such as medical, law (although in my neighborhood people coming to law is considered evil. That’s just how they see justice system in this country. Lol), accounting, or if your’re a girl you should go to education faculty (being teacher is the best profession for girl).

How about art? Art? What is that? Isn’t that what people do to fill their leisure time? Or isn’t that a freepass to insanity (artists and mental health problems are common, right?). Art is not an option for adults. It’s so bad that when you’re scribbling your homework books, your elementary teacher will scold you (this is personal experience and it almost suck all the artistry potency I have).

This series show that holding a sculpture department also takes effort because the number of students keep decreasing. So, what about those who’s passioned about sculpturing? That would be hard for them to keep learning. Not to mention to survive in real world after they graduate. See, I’m having that normal people way of thinking. I “prejudice” art students won’t make it. We’re talking about physical art here, in a world where people move to digital medium.

I think it’s great to study what you love. It’s like half of your happiness is fulfilled. I think it’d be much nicer if the production exposure more about the job opportunities in sculturing field. It could help motivate future students.
