Young mother, Yamazaki Risako is assigned to be a lay judge for a case where mother drowned her baby. This trial affects Risako’s mental state because she starts evaluating her life based on the defendant's case. They are both being depressed because the mother and mother-in-law keep despising their judgment. Risako’s mother expressed her pity because her husband is not rich enough to provide the life of her standard. On the other hand, Risako’s mother-in-law seems supporting but always leading the way she manages her house. To make it worse, the husband leaves childcare and household managing to her, only to criticizes her when the kid throw tantrum.

Risako left her job to take care of their daughter, but her husband starts belittling her, making sure she has no value outside the house. 

This dorama emotionally drains me. Although I’m not a wife or mother, I can’t help but crying when I see how these people treat the women in this dorama. Why does our being significant others are the one who crushes us? A husband who thinks he’s higher than the wife, “jailing” her to the house so he’s the only source of her self esteem, is very selfish. The tendency of controlling your spouse leads to a toxic relationship. Beware of these signs:

• always disapproving of how you raise your child
• telling you being less than average
• planting an inferiority complex

Parents! Parents are also the stressors for a young mother. Didn’t they want a girl to get married early so she has someone to take care of her? Now that she’s married why would parents still mess around with her life? Make up your mind. 

However, those are external factors only. The mother herself also contributes to this situation. If she's mature enough to defend herself, know what she wants, and have some self-esteem, she could fight this. That's why you need to be fully prepared before getting married. Make sure everyone involve will cooperate to carry a blissful marriage because marriage is not a bed of roses.

Uwaah, even writing this makes me angry. it's such a great dorama.
