In 2050, the human is in the brink of extinction. Alien spreads toxic to match their environment. 5 siblings decide to jump to the past to stop the invasion from the beginning. Koji, Kozo, and Haruka steps into their grandfather's lounge in 2013 and asks him to build giant robot Red Baron to fight the alien. The professor agrees but let only his brother driving the robot. The problem is, the brother, Shun, is a hot-headed arrogant boxer. It's not easy to ask him to step up.
This is a remake of 1971's Silver Mask and 1974's Super Robot Red Baron. If you don't recognize the title, welcome to the club. XD. I'm only here to watch Daito and Shu. Geez, Daito is so handsome in that hair. I wish he had more roles like this.
This movie brings back the idea of original tokusatsu for me: a simple idea of protecting the human. It doesn't show much drama like the recent series.
My favorite part is when Koji asks why the alien choose Earth but among other planets. The answer is a stab to my heart:
