Ye Jianyao is a bankrupt chef who's trying to find an investor for her new food stall. One of her customers is a researcher, who invented a ring and the time machine that can transport someone from to the past. When lightning hits the city the machine suddenly turned on, throwing Yao Yao to ancient time. She wakes up inside the body of official, Ye Jianxuan. This girl is running from her own wedding. Lucky she's saved by straight face hero named Xia Chunyu. But, not to be relieved, as the hero is part of another bandits gang called Black Wind.

Knowing Yao Yao is the daughter of an official, The Black Wind Chief, Bai Chongye forces her to marry Xia Chunyu.  Frankly speaking, Yao Yao doesn't mind being married to him. Xia Chunyu is so handsome, cool, and have great martial art skills. She has a crush on him instantly. Unfortunately, the husband only uses her to prevent Bai Chongye's suspicion. He's actually a spy trying to reveal the Black Wind's conspiracy to revolt.

No historical reference here, but when they mention Prince Yu fighting the crown with the Crown Prince, I can't help but scream. It feels like nirvana in fire all over. I know, it's been 3 years, but I can't get over it.

What I love about this light romantic comedy is how Yao Yao treats her time slips as a vacation. She decides to enjoy everything. She wears the dress she likes, instead of following that era fashion. She loves cooking even though it's not easy to process raw material in that ancient time.

The similarity between this series and Eternal Love is that both our heroine love money. It's they'll do everything for money, but because they understand the power of having financial freedom. In the ancient time, women are in lower status because they can't support themselves. They have to rely on men to survive. Thus, they have no choice but accepting no matter how rude men treated them. Those women think highly of men, simply because they're not well educated. This is why modern women who have access to information and education are able to chin up. They have enough knowledge to understand how the world works. They can judge the value of men and they're not all good. Men are not gods. 
The privilege of ancient men to dominate is slowly fading away as more women given the opportunity to learn and cultivate their potency. Smart men would support that, just like how Xia Chunyu lets Yao Yao work in the kitchen because she loves cooking. He never forces her to cook for him, nor forbid her. He lets her do what she likes.
I can't help but think about how feminism and emancipation turn differently in some people's mind. It's not women want to take over men's work, but women may be able to do what men can do. It's not women want to top men's pride, but women just want to do what they like. Let's be honest, women don't want to do everything men do. We can carry our own luggage, but still happy to have men offering help. This is the time men should adapt and work on a new definition of gentlemen, not taking women as enemies.
