How does it feel to be loved by a king? For most people, it's an honor. But, for Gongsun Li, it means separation from her first love. She never asked for it, yet the King of Qin takes her as wife. He has been in love with her since they were little. She once saved him from assassins. Well, the story is more than just royal romance, crazy political situation brings conflict to the next level.

Being born as Wei people, Gongsun Li wants to stop Qin army to evade the country. She and her senior try to gather as much as warriors to end the war. They're so much in love with each other, but the senior is badly poison. Gongsun Li is forced to turn to King of Qin in order to save her beloved. He's willing to help just to have her. Thus, despite of being pregnant with her senior's baby, Gongsun Li becomes the King's woman.

This drama is  focusing the romance between the King and Gongsun Li, so, be prepare to see harem's struggle as the other consorts become jealous over the King's love toward Gongsun Li. I find them pathetic, but also pitiful. They are princesses and daughters of noble families, married into palace as symbol of their families/countries cooperation to Qin. In the end, the king has no interest in them. They are trapped inside the palace, ignored by the only man they can love. Sad.

On the other hand, Gongsun Li, puts a fight. I find it a sweet revenge when the kings found that she's pregnant with other man. It's like 'you can have me, but you can never occupy my heart' aha! Even so, the furious King of Qin has given his heart to her. He lets her keep the baby and tell everyone that it's his son. It takes serious big heart and bigger love to do so. It makes me cry.
