Sakuragawa Fuka and Kojitani Yota are divorce lawyers. They are opponents in the divorce case of Hara couple. Hara Masaharu, the 8th years' ronin who still wish to enter medical faculty, filed a divorce from his hard working ex-Yankee wife, Kyoko. For the past 5 years, Kyoko has been supporting Masaharu by taking 3 different jobs a day so that he can focus on studying. Kyoko never expects him to leave.
Representing Masaharu, Sakuragawa sensei struggle in finding the right divorce reason. According to the Civil Code, there are only 5 reasons accepted by the court:
1. Adultery, having an affair or something of the sort;
2. Malicious abandonment;
3. Not knowing whether the person is alive or dead for more than 3 years;
4. Having mental illness with no prospect of recovery;
5. Any other significant reason that makes continuing the marriage difficult.
Still, she is determined to win this case no matter what. She's been crowned as the most successful divorce lawyer in her firm, no matter how hard the case it.
On the other side, Kojitani is an expert of solving divorce case peacefully. He seeks for amicable resolution for both parties.
To my surprise, Sekime matches her awful characterization. Why forcing him to be super charai? I don't like flirty Sekime and he seems forced to portray it. Thus, he fails to express his dialogue naturally. Remember, he's too cute and handsome to be lewd. We can have him being bullied (by Gakky or any other co-star), but not being an easy guy. No, no.
Fortunately, Kawashima Umika saves the day. Her fragile and innocent look is drastically changed into the role of ex-yankee young mother. Her character is tough and determinant. She needs more role like this. I love it. Playing her husband is Yu chan, the lame guy who's not only fail as student, but also as husband. The make up artist perfectly turns him into sad and tired one. Good job!
Haru, Haru, Haru...enough trying to sell her as cool good girl. She's not born to it. She was perfect in Switch Girl, being mean pretty lady. Now, after trying several characters, I'm absolutely sure she should should encourage her devil side, instead. Is it her stiff facial? Is it her artificial looking hair? I don't know. I'm just not into her.
