Ding Hu (Sammo Hung) lives alone. He used to be Central Security Bureau agent and had protected a lot of VIPs. One day, he lost sight of his granddaughter and the little girl went missing. His daughter cut ties with him after that incident.
The guy living next to his house is a gambler jerk named Li (Andy Lau). He lives with his daughter after the wife fed up of him and chased another man. However, he doesn't treasure his daughter. He often yelled at her, so she is used to sneaking out to Ding Hu's house.
One day, a gangster Choi forces Li to steal a bag from Russian. Li expects his gambling debt will be cleared after finishing the task. However, Choi doesn't grant his wish, only giving extended payment time. Li turns mad and runs away with the stolen bag, which is full of jewelry.
Choi burns Li's house to find his daughter. It was Ding who defends her. Choi will come back until he gets Li.
When you heard the name Sammo Hung, you can't help thinking this is going to be full action movie. But, it turns a dramatic story. The story is simple. It's about love. People who think they don't deserve to get love, they do. People whom you can't expect of giving love, they do.
And sometimes the one who care for you the most might not be your flesh and blood.
