A high school girl is found dead on the same spot as 2 murders from 7 years ago. Even the method looks similar. However, police had apprehended the murder of the previous murders. The culprit was sentenced to guilty after police found the red checkered shirt on his ceiling. But, he refused to admit it and chose to suicide in prison.
The newfound case brings people's attention to the probability of false accused. Chief Kayama and his subordinates carefully reinvestigate. After all, it was his colleague who made the case. If it was really mistreatment, it would tarnish the police name.
This is a police procedural drama. It has no genius crime solver, just a patient enough officer who'd carefully rethinking the case. Cracking the case is one thing, but figuring out how the police conduct their work is another focus of this drama. None really a bad guy, everyone just wants to catch the criminal. However, their idea of making someone obviously villain is not always right.
Sometimes you walk through a dark path to get into your light. The goal is good, the means is not.
