You Are My Glory

10 years ago, Qiao Jing Jing confessed her love to a genius classmate, Yu Tu just to be rejected because she's not smart enough. Now, she's a superstar, dubbed as the most successful among her classmates. She accidentally met Yu Tu through an online game and even managed to get him tutoring her.

It's been years, but he's still the one that got Jing Jing bedazzled. But, the table has been turned. Yu Tu is in the middle of a career crisis. Even though he's been pursuing his dream as an aerospace engineer, he begins to realize this job doesn't do much to his parents. It only gives tons of work, little pay, and even little free time to check on the parents. Yu Tu even missed it when his mother was sick.

THIS IS NOT JUST A FLUFFY ROMANCE.
It touches the reality of millennials.
This is about a life choice. For millennials, working is our life. We'd love to do the things we love. However, not every job pays well. Pays enough, yes, but what if it's something you can't brag about during a reunion? You know some people use reunion to show off the money they make, the great car they drive, the marriage and children, and so on.
Rarely do they ask about "are you happy with your life?" Are you chasing money because you like money or are you just stuck in a social pressure to look rich?
I know.
It's weird to ask your old friend, "you're happy?" Usually, people just ask "how are you" and by default, we replied, "I'm fine, thank you." I was once answered that question by "not very well," and my friend just lost it. He didn't know how to continue the conversation. lol
Back to the story.
Even though Yu Tu is an aerospace engineer, graduated from a prestigious school, and soon to become head engineer, he somehow feels inferior. His old classmate brags about his high pay, yet he's just "enough".  Then, facing the fact that he'd never be on par with Qiao Jing Jing's wealth, he's down to think he's not worth it.

This is where patriarchy culture comes in "handy". Men always expected to bring more to the table. That's considered their values. That's why so many stories about the CEO (while if you notice every CEO character has mental health problems waiting to be cured by the FL. Tch) falling for "normal poor" girl. On the other hand, when the FL is rich, smart, and independent, she is often dubbed by the cold, leftover, arrogant woman. Notice how I emphasize how money sets a status for men and women. We're living in a world that it's fine for men to be rich, but women shouldn't.
Why?
When a woman, like Jing Jing, has her own money, she doesn't need Yu Tu to feed her. She's not looking for a sugar daddy. She's loving him for 10 years. Aren't you touched?

I know men often think that when their partner is richer, smarter, and more attractive, she won't be a devoted wife. Wow. So, your idea of loving (and marriage) is to conquer? Great. Just pick some stupid young girl, then.

Oh, you just read my very emotional review. In fact, I was crying since episode 14 thinking how stupid Yu Tu is. Geez, this is such a great story. Finally, a production that is worth all the A-stars!
