The Eight Hundred

The date was July 7, 1937. The Japanese is eager to take Shanghai. Eight hundred Chinese soldiers under the command of Colonel Xie are assigned to defend the territory. They're based in old warehouse just a bridge away from citizen's housing who live "peacefully" under concession jurisdiction.

They are lost in number, also lack of provision. Japanese Army comes with fighter planes cornering Chinese Army, still find it hard to break the defense in two days.

The fight sparks citizen's patriotism. Although they failed to expel Japanese army at that day, they fuels Chinese fight to break away from foreign imperialism.

forever to finish

It takes me months to finish this movie. War is always too scary to chew, especially when dealing with Japanese. Why did they have to go out and steal other's territory? Why? Can't they just enjoy their hometown?

War never bring good thing. Every time I watch Japanese in war, I pity them for being poor that they have to go out and secure other country's resources. The fact that today's japan enjoy high level of "prosperity" doesn't check out their country's illness. It's one of the most depressed country in the world. Guess it's their Karma?

Anyone, the cinematography is beautiful. Although I don't like yellowish color along the movie, it's really fit the time.
