Midnight Diner

The diner is open from midnight. People come there for the delicious food, also to find sanctuary. People with dreams, they can be tired of chasing. They enter the diner to take rest. The owner serves them food they need, they don't even need to order.

There are 4 stories tangled together in this movie:

• An amateur boxer who's too afraid to step up his game. Even his mother needs to set him up with a beautiful widow nurse.
• A chubby flavorist who's still waiting for her first love. When they met he confessed his crush for her, but he's already found someone to live with.
• An aspired singer accidentally meets a great star. They collaborate to produce her first single. But, her days were counting due to chronic disease.
• A couple comes to Shanghai but sees in the different shade. The girl looks at it as a chance for her model debut, while her boyfriend just wants to raise money to live quietly. 

This is the remake of Japanese' Shinya Shokudo. I admit I was always skeptical when Japanese works being remade by other countries. Especially the slice-of-life genre. There's an x variable that can't be replicated/translated to other culture and the original fan (me) is quite lousy. But, this turns out alright.
