Himura Hideo is an eccentric criminologist. He barely comb his hair and always wear an oversized coat. The only think interesting enough for him is a crime. So, aside from being criminology assistant professor, he also serves as police advisor. Detective Nabeshima often calls him and his childhood friend, novelist Arisugawa Arisu, to help to solve murder cases.

This is a Japanese interpretation of Sherlock Holmes' story. But, this Holmes is someone with an academic title (pretty much like the original model Sir Conan Doyle made Sherlock from). I think it's a value added to Himura's character. It's hard to rely on someone who doesn't achieve any normative status, right? We're living in that kind of society.
However, Himura's appearance is really pathetic. I feel like offering him barbershop coupons. What have they done to my adorable Michael? Still, his interdependence to Arisu is kinda cute. Himura keeps ignoring his friend's intelligence, but we all can feel his love. Aww
Kubonyan (that's how I decide to call Kubota Masataka now. finally.) is truly a guy with thousands of masks. His Arisu is cute, childish, and innocent. He might be an O blood type for being able to take the weird personality of Himura.
This series is the first one I watch this season. I can hardly wait for the next cases.
